Guus came to my studio with his dearest little Aapie, the cuddly toy he’s had since birth. Having his photo taken felt quite exciting and a little overwhelming, but with Aapie by his side, he found the courage. It’s so beautiful to see how much safety and comfort a birth cuddle can give.

Fenne came to my studio on a rainy Saturday afternoon. We wanted to create portraits in the style of the old masters. For the series of portraits with birth cuddly toys, she also brought along her dear, cherished rabbit.

We made this photo in the studio, but I also have some images from the Dullstroom bird rescue centre... the wings are from a photo I took there. This composite was made in post production.
