Forty-Second Collection

To take amazing pictures like this, my friend Anne and I traveled to South Africa. We did a whole week of photoshoots with different models and animals. Carmen, the brave lady in the foreground, joined us from Switzerland for this amazing event. She is just great with animals, both because she loves them and because she is really patient and empathic.
Salati, the leopard, is used to photoshoots, as most of the other animals who live on that lodge. So we really had the opportunity to capture the interaction between the models and the animals. It was an amazing week with great people, wonderful encounters with different animals and awesome results.
AND, we are going to do it again in March 2020. So if you are a photographer and interested to join us, please let me know. It would be amazing to share this experience with you!
This is a photo of my daughter. It was a cold and windy day so I photographed this one as quickly as I could. I really love the colors of autumn so those colors were my inspiration in this shot.

We created this in my studio with my friend's daughter. It turned out to be one of my favorite pictures. Every now and then it just comes together perfectly!

This photo was taken during a studio shooting. We tried several lights and decided to reduce it as much as ever possible. With one beauty dish from above and one reflector below her face, we took this photo. The new transformation was done afterward in Lightroom. I like to concentrate on my model and try to reduce the technical surroundings wherever possible - and a do the same for postproduction. Why? I am a photographer, not a retoucher... ;-)

With Stephanie, we had the goal to make some nice huntress style photos in a beautiful sunset light! We tried a lot and as a result, we made a few very nice pictures this evening. Also wed learned, how difficult it is to shoot with animals. I like this picture the most because the model is in the focus and the horse plays a minor role. I called it "Huntress with a bow".
Only the nice evening sunset light was used.

This was captured during a two-day shoot in NYC with LA-based model Nausheen Ahmed, in the Eataly location across from the Flat Iron Building. It was a sunny day and we had retreated to the cafe for a short rest and coffee when I decided to shoot Nausheen through the front window. The challenge was capturing her without too much "interference" from the constant foot traffic in and out of the cafe. I think we succeeded. You can find Nausheen on Instagram at @nausheen_ahmed

I took this picture in an ice-cold stream in Adelboden (Switzerland). We had to interrupt again and again because it was about 10°C and became very cold and unpleasant for the model again and again. But in the end, we took some really cool pictures.

These 2 sisters often accompany their little brother whom I am every month during his 1st year. They were good enough to pose in their turn. I wanted to show that the elder's dental problem did not justify the big complex this girl suffers while waiting for her future treatment. Their charm is obvious.

We took this picture on a really cold day in a mountain town. Rita, the model was shaking with cold but we still had great photos. Natural light. Nikon D610 85mm.

this was my first bridal shoot with a horse. As you can probably imagine, shooting with an animal, especially with a stubborn horse isn't always that predictable. Well, I must say, I am happy with the results.

Vistela is her name, the name of the dress made of hair. This gown of sadness I wear. She carries all the pain I experienced with someone I consider my soul mate. When I first looked into his eyes, I knew he was. I was lost, he was my guide. I was sad, he was my sunlight. The love we had for each other was the strongest emotion I ever felt in my life. We were both unhappily married, carrying both our backpacks of pain from the past.
The romance was amazing but didn’t stay that long. After a couple of months it was still there but yet gone. What used to be a 100% perfect love affair, turned into a living hell. My so-called ‘soul mate’ transformed into an evil monster, from the worst nightmare you could imagine. Escaped from a previous nightmare (my ex-marriage) into the next, I was trapped in his claws. I saw my life being destroyed little by little. The thing is, I hooked up with a victim of abuse in his youth, who got stuck with a Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. His backpack from the past was way heavier than mine. He unpacked it and our love became like the worst crime.
People who suffer from PTSD feel they have to hurt others as well. They can become sadists and so was this new lover of mine. He abused me psychologically, made me cry every day. I felt miserable and small like a mouse. He couldn’t help himself, because thought he didn’t deserve our love. The voice of his offender from 30 years ago kept constantly screaming in his head: “you don’t deserve this, you’re not allowed to be happy and to feel true love for another person!” Our love was made impossible. He used drugs and materialism as an escape, but after he got clean he came to realize what he was doing to me.
I tried to help him, but his PTSD kept him locked in a cage. He made the decision to stay locked in this cage, after living in it for the past 30 years. I can’t enjoy my freedom now living a life without him. The emptiness will never go away. The emptiness will stay at least for a thousand years. Dancing while wearing Vistela, I would still love him for a thousand years.
