Twentieth Collection
Even though the temperature was just around 15 degrees. Since the sun was shining Lana and I decided to go to the forest and do someshoots outdoors.
for our lightning I used the sun in the background and my portable flash in HS mode. the softbox was a 150cm Octa that I slightly modified.

Model: Elene
Photographer: Gary McGillivray-Birnie
Location: On the streets of Dubai using reflective natural light only, during a workshop, Dubai United Arab Emirates, April 2017.
This particular shot taken literary on a Dubai street corner. The model is has her back to wall and I cropped this image tight to remove the building in the background, even at this shallow depth of field.
Camera settings: Nikon D810, lens 85mm, ISO 100, f/4.5, 1/160s
Jasmine and I were driving to our shooting location when we realized that we wouldn’t make it there before sunset. So we stopped almost in the middle of the street and used the last 10 minutes of sunlight for a couple of portraits. It was a “spontaneous emergency idea” but it turned out to be great.
Jasmine was the very first model I ever worked with. Since that day, we did a couple of great shoots, including one for a calendar. She is such a beautiful, fun and sweet person, I love to work with her <3

Model: Jeimy Osorio
Location: El Tucan, Miami
Styling: Louis Calveiro
Jeimy is an actress and singer. She played Celia Cruz at a beautiful production by Telemundo. We decided to give the shoot an old, ballroom, Miami-cuban mood and loved the results. This was my favorite shot. The warm lights that start in the back in a rhythm that ends up on her glowing and how we go back and forth looking at this, did it for me. Loved her vibe and contagious smile.
We took this Picture in my home studio. I used just one flash with a 120cmx80cm softbox.
Our goal was painting-like Picture.

The news.
Model: Lilia Luciano
Styling: Ricardo Salazar
Hair and Makeup: Gladys Melendez
Lilia Luciano is a television investigative journalist, filmmaker and public speaker. Luciano is the investigative reporter at ABC 10 in Sacramento, California. She is also the director and producer of Wars of Others, an HBO Documentary film about the consequences of the U.S. War on Drugs on Colombian farmers. She is now a host and contributor at VICE in English and Spanish.
She's one of my favorite subjects to photograph. Down to earth, fun, smart, brave and strikingly beautiful.
This Picture was taken 30min before a thunderstorm was breaking loose. Lana was wearing an old parachute as a skirt.
Besides the natural wind, I used two additional wind machines plus 2 assistants. For the light, I used my portable flash and a 100cm Octabox.

Room service.
Model: Paolo Ragone (Argentina)
This was the very last photo we took at this shoot. We walked the city of Miami and shot at fancy bars, beautiful locations, spectacular sunsets. As we walked in the hotel room to leave the camera equipment there and grab a quick dinner, I looked around and said: let's do one more! This setup at a not-so-fancy hotel room ended up being our favorite one.
